Storm Lashing the Land – Castle Douglas, Dumfries

Castle Douglas; a thriving area for prosperous local farming and a beautiful part of the world for me to visit. The weather this day was dramatic. The rain coming down in stair rods. Sharp and soaking. It was a day for shelter when I painted this. And so, I took to a small bothy to hide out and paint in relative warmth and to keep dry.

The dark greys and blacks of the sky were enhanced by the heather purples of the storm. The land beneath vibrant and standing proud against the lashing of the rain.
