Tobermory is picture-postcard perfect with its lofty woodland-fringed hills surrounding the bay.
Legend has it that there is the wreck of a Spanish galleon carrying millions of gold coins buried deep in the silt at the bottom of the bay. Part of the defeated Armada of 1588 it was fleeing the English fleet when the ship caught fire, setting off the gunpowder onboard and sinking to the sea bed.
The gentleness of this painting belies the treasures and the historic drama that went before.
