When I painted this, autumn was just around the corner, her cooler fingers reaching out and drawing in the West Coast of Scotland into her chilly windswept embrace. The landscape begins its annual change in colours. Losing the heady brightness of summer and entering into its letting go phase. The mountains are getting their white peaks ready for winter as the autumn light starts to lull us into that comforting and familiar sense of hibernation.
